Relationship with Mr Law
S£ºHow did your relationship with Mr Law start? L£ºWah, Mr Law, of course it¡¯s related to Chinese opera. S£ºWah, This is very pretty, there¡¯s a heart. L£ºRed-coloured heart. S£ºMine is ¡°tomatoes with sunflower seeds¡±£¬ and yours is ¡°vegetarian turkey¡±. L£ºI like yours, I think it¡¯s very unique S£ºYou can try it. L£ºIt¡¯s very special, I¡¯ve not used this fork, it¡¯s clean. S£ºI know, but even if you¡¯ve used it before, I don¡¯t really mind. L£ºNo, we should try to be as clean as possible while having a vegetarian meal. S£ºYes, that¡¯s true.£¬ L£ºI¡¯ve never used this one as well, I¡¯ll try this then. Yee? What is it made of? S£ºTomatoes L£ºOh, very special indeed. Have you ever considered to publish a book about vegetarianism? Since you¡¯ve been a vegetarian for so many years, you should have some deep understanding. S£ºYes, I have, my dream is to start a vegetarian restaurant. L£ºOh! You should start one as soon as possible! Waitress wraps Liza in her shawl. L£ºYes, thanks. S£ºSo, how did the relationship with Mr Law start? L£ºHim, should be around the end of 1987, I can¡¯t remember the exact date. He was looking for a Chinese opera partner. He knew that I had worked with Lam Kar Sing, and knows that I have interest in Chinese Opera. He invited me to participate in a Chinese Opera show through friends. Yee, I said that¡¯s a great idea. Ah, he¡¯s also a Chinese Opera actor, but before I agreed, I put forward a condition, that is he has to accompany me while I practice and train my skills in Chinese Opera. As he wanted me to play Mok Kwai Ying, which involves a lot of kungfu£¬ I said that this character is rather hard to play and I would require you to accompany me while I train, and you can¡¯t accept any other performances throughout the whole year. He agreed. At that time, he didn¡¯t have a lot of performances, as I limited his work, and he really accompanied me while I trained for 6 months. S£ºHe accompanied you while you trained everyday? L£ºShould be, almost everyday S£ºWhat sort of training is it£¿ L£ºBasics, Mok Kwai Ying, I need to learn a lot of movements and techniques. He was at my side while I trained for 1 year. S£ºSo this is how your relationship developed? L£ºI feel that he is very serious towards certain things, and also his promise, he really kept it. I feel that he is a trustworthy man. He was quite poor at that time, and he didn¡¯t accept any other jobs while he trained with me. He had to really spend his money wisely as he promised me not to accept any jobs. In the end, we acted in 17 sessions. He give me the impression that he¡¯s very cool£¬I mean he¡¯s cool on stage, personally, I don¡¯t think he¡¯s very cool. S£ºHa ha. L£ºAt that time, he had a serious hair-loss problem, he was balding right in the middle of his head, almost like Justin¡¯s hair right now. He doesn¡¯t wear any fashionable clothes. He¡¯s casual. Actually, all the Chinese opera actors dress the same way. S£ºSo, you liked the on-stage him first L£ºYes, I think the on-stage him is very cool, he¡¯s a martial artist, should be something like a hero. S£ºSo, did you start dating after training? L£ºNope S£ºSo they happened rather naturally. L£ºNo, we didn¡¯t really date. S£ºOff-stage, has he ever said something that you found to be very touching or something that is worth remembering or is he rather cloudy in your memory? L£ºI think he is very chauvinistic. S£ºOh, is it? L£ºYes S£ºHe doesn¡¯t seem to be chauvinistic. L£ºOf course! He¡¯s a very traditional and chauvinistic man S£º¡°Prepare Dinner!¡±, is it? L£ºNah, not this, because he knows that I can¡¯t cook. He makes most of the decisions when it comes to Chinese Opera.he S£ºYou allow him to make decisions? L£ºHe¡¯s my senior, and also my mentor. Quite often, he directs the show S£ºYou have been with him for quite some time already, have you ever discovered that he had another girl friend? L£ºI think yes, as he has a lot of admirers, but most of the time, we do give each other a lot of freedom. Furthermore, I can¡¯t control his behavior. S£ºSo you would be okay if he had another girlfriend? L£ºI don¡¯t mind, as we¡¯re not married S£ºOh, so you¡¯ve never thought of getting married? L£ºWe have our own discretion. S£ºWhat do you mean? L£ºThat is, you should be able to tell how much feelings to put into this relationship. Both of us also have the freedom of choice. S£ºDoes Mr Law go to some inappropriate places for massage? L£ºOh, I don¡¯t know. S£ºIs it because you don¡¯t want to know or you really don¡¯t know. L£ºI don¡¯t think I need to know, he wouldn¡¯t even tell you if he did. S£ºYou¡¯re very open. L£ºI am! I feel that if a person wants to hide something from you, he can do that easily. S£ºHas he done something that made you really angry? L£ºI think definitely yes. S£ºYes? Tell us a little. L£ºI don¡¯t really remember. In the past, I would remember them, but now, I would choose to forget the unhappy things. S£ºHas his mother ever mentioned about marriage L£ºNo, his mother is a very open individual, she has never mentioned it. She has 3 sons, and none of them are married. His younger brother also has a girlfriend but they are not married. S£ºIs this fashionable in his family£¿ L£ºHe always says that his father used up all his quota because his father had a few wives. That was during the war, Mr Law¡¯s mother is the 3rd wife. That¡¯s why they call their mother ¡°Ah Lai (last). I asked ¡°Ah Lai, why did you marry his father?¡± she said that during the war, a lot of girls are afraid of being kidnapped by the Japanese soldiers. Therefore, if a boy was willing to marry them, then they would have a family of their own. This is how she married Mr Law¡¯s father. During the war, it is common for men to have a few wives. S£ºDeep down inside, are you something like Mr Law¡¯s mother, that is you would like to get married again or that thought has never occurred to you? L£ºActually, I am a little, special. Since young, I didn¡¯t stay with my parents. Many years have passed since my divorce, I have evolved to be a rather independent individual. I am not very close to my parents. They migrated to America to look after my brother. Basically, I am a very independent person.
Wilairat and Rainbow, heard there's an army coup in Thailand, is everything okay?

Well, we see £º instead of : , and ¡¯ instead ' But that's ok, it's legible. I wonder how Mr Law made her angry and she chose to forget it, umm. So how they can stay that long? And why the ones b4 Mr Law didn't last long? When she said they didn't really date, she meant, when they started they didn't really date, or untill now they didn't really date??? It's that S who made her unhappy to ask that Q.
Anyway, thanks for the translation. Waiting for more.

From this part...
"In the past, I would remember them, but now, I would choose to forget the unhappy things"
Love her sentences. Um...Liza jie's open and wow!! just know her more ....really admire her..just the way she is ...
In Thailand..
Last night..I'm really excited coz while watching TV and talking with P' Rainbow...the TV programme changed immediately. I just asked P' Rainbow what happen? But we didn't know. Then, my aunt called my mom and said...it's revolution ...Oh!!! what???
But it's not serious as much as the CNN news broadcasting. As before the revolution was occured, there're the big conflicts bet. 2 groups in Thailand (prime minister vs. rival) and if the revolution wasn't occured last night...I think today maybe there will be some offensive in Thailand.
So, a lot of Thai people think that this's the best way to solve the problem. And we're fine. I just hope that the peacefulness will be coming soon in Thailand.
Anyway, Thanks K wanna know more about Liza jie he,he The more I know her attitude, the more I admire her lol. he,he

S£ºAs you¡¯ve been with TVB for quite some time, do you have anything to say to the people that are close to you? L£º6th Uncle (Run Run Shaw), I really want to thank him. Ah Sir, I feel really warm every time I meet him. I recall a TVB anniversary, I can¡¯t remember which year¡¯s, but a lot of senior staff were not present, and he said to me, ¡°Liza, now there¡¯s only the 3 of us here, just me and you and also Mrs Lei.¡± Actually he is very sincere and genuine, as as a boss he didn¡¯t have the need to tell me that, and there were many other colleagues present at the celebration, but he still noticed me. Therefore, I can really feel his sincerity. S£ºHave you ever wondered if your colleagues are really nice to you or whether they¡¯re just afraid of you, as there¡¯s a saying, ¡°Ah Jie getting angry..¡± L£ºIs not a small thing S£ºYes, it¡¯s not a small thing indeed! Are you really fierce? I¡¯ve never experienced it. L£ºDo you want to? S£ºNo, thanks! L£ºI don¡¯t really get angry for no reason S£ºI¡¯ve only seen Ah Jie cry L£ºYes, but it¡¯s very rarely that I cry. S£ºBut it¡¯s also a once in a blue moon thing when you come to my office, and you¡¯d cry. L£ºVery occasionally. It¡¯s not everyday that you get to see the managing director. I never object nor reject any jobs offered to me by the company, therefore, there¡¯s no reason for me to bother the managing director. S£ºHow about as a friend? L£ºThat¡¯s going to be very difficult. As building a friendship requires time. If you, as a managing director, asks me to host a television program, who would have the guts to reject? S£ºNo, I am always rejected by others! L£º Basically, at your position, it¡¯s hard to be friends with most of the staff, for us to be friends, the friendship would have to start before you became the managing director. As a managing director, I doubt you have the time to start making friends with the artists, as maintaining a friendship requires time. Do you agree? S: Yes! L: It would be great if we are able to maintain a healthy relationship as colleagues. I wouldn¡¯t say that you¡¯re my boss, as you¡¯re also working under someone else, but you have the power, that¡¯s why we should maintain a good relationship as colleagues. S£ºSo, are you fierce? L£ºI don¡¯t think so. But as I¡¯ve already been in this field for a long time, I¡¯ve seen a lot of things. I also accumulated a lot of experience. Most of the time, I can accomplish something rather quickly but others might require more time. I just want to save time. S£ºYou are also involved in Chinese Opera. Certainly, to me, you have been in that sector for quite a few years, but to the other opera actors, they might think that you¡¯re a newbie. However, you became the Director of Pat Woh Society. At that time, did you face any obstacles, or any criticism? L£º Haih! It¡¯s too cold. (Complaining about the room temperature being a little too cold) Actually, I was not planning to become the director. I was very much interested to be involved in Chinese Opera and was required to join Pat Woh. Pat Woh members said to me, ¡°Liza, you¡¯re rather famous, why not join our committee and help the Chinese Opera industry?¡± So I said, ¡°Okay, why not, I¡¯ll see what I can do to help. Every two years, they would elect a director. At that time, there were some members supporting other candidates. Actually, I won the election with just one vote. I can still remember the last person to cast his vote. I remember that his name is ¡°Ð½ðɽ¾«µÄÊ常¡±, he said, ¡°Oh no, I don¡¯t know who to vote for¡± So, he asked ¡°Wah Kwong Sifu¡± for some guidance, because Chinese Opera actors worship ¡°Wah Kwong Sifu¡±. S£ºHow did he go about it? L£ºHe asked the Gods, and prayed to the ¡°Sifu¡±, and I was elected as the director. S£ºOh, a God¡¯s vote. L£ºYes! I feel that it¡¯s up to you whether you want to believe it or not. Most of the time, you¡¯d go to ¡°Wong Dai Sin¡± to pray and ask for guidance. If you believe it, you would do it. S£ºAfter being elected as director, did you meet any obstacles? L£º Of course! I was very enthusiastic about making changes. A lot of the committee were senior Chinese Opera members, but they didn¡¯t really bother me, as they didn¡¯t really know me very well. I remember ¡°New Ma Chai¡±, he had a very high status in the committee and said, ¡°No, a woman cannot be our Pat Woh director. She has not done it before, what does she know? She doesn¡¯t even know much about our Chinese Opera history, and has not done many Chinese Opera performances.¡± There¡¯s a lot of similar comments. I treated his negativities as a form singing as I¡¯ve already been elected as director! So, I knew, that as a director, I had to produce some results. And this is how I started. S£ºSo, in your opinion, what is the greatest result that you¡¯ve produced? L£ºI can¡¯t say that it¡¯s any accomplishment, but I¡¯ve done a few things, that is I¡¯ve increased the general public¡¯s awareness towards Pat Woh. Now, for any sector, Pat Woh plays an important role. It represents the traditional Chinese Opera. I¡¯ve also raised a lot of money, and bought a lot of urns, that is, Pat Woh takes care of someone's whole life, including his death.

S£ºYours is a plain fish, mine is Yunnan gourd. L£ºThis is fish? S£ºYes, it¡¯s fish. There¡¯s some meat floss on it. L£ºI thought it¡¯s meat floss. S£ºTry it! L£ºAh, It¡¯s really fish, and it¡¯s still hot. S£ºYes, it¡¯s hot, eat it quickly, You said that you¡¯re cold, eat some and you¡¯ll feel warmer. S£ºLet¡¯s talk about your career, it¡¯s been fairly smooth and successful for you. I¡¯ve never seen it down in the dumps. L£ºHai! Touch Wood! What ¡°down¡±!!! S£ºOh, sorry for saying something inauspicious. Hit my head! L£ºYou shouldn¡¯t say such things! Pearl of the Orient is coming out soon. S£ºIt¡¯s been smooth sailing for you, and Ah Jie¡¯s TVB¡¯s jewel. L£ºThank you! S£ºAh Jie, I remember, whenever there¡¯s war, I was studying at that time, ¡°Yang¡¯s Female Warrior¡± ¡°Shell Game¡±.. L£ºIt was a coincidence. S£ºI will rush home to watch your series! It¡¯s been great so far. How about your health? L£ºMy health, it¡¯s not as good, actually most of the time, my health is rather bad, as I have to use a lot of energy. In 1985, I had thyroid cancer. S£º1985. L£ºYes, and I removed it later. S£ºAnd breast cancer in 2002. L£ºI don¡¯t think that¡¯s counted as cancer as I detected the tumor early, and I removed the tumor. I didn¡¯t have to go for chemotherapy. I consider myself to be very lucky. S£ºWere you scared when you knew that you had cancer? Were you worried? L£ºYeah, I was scared, but I figured there¡¯s no point to be scared. I still had to consult a doctor. I can¡¯t just sit there and wait for death to take me. S£ºYou went to the doctors alone? L£ºYes S£ºYou didn¡¯t ask Mr Law to accompany you? L£ºI don¡¯t think so, I remember that he was rather busy at that time, and he was filming some dramas in Mainland China. S£ºSo, you only told your family after the treatment. L£ºYes S£ºYou¡¯re very independent! L£ºI figured that it¡¯s something irreversible, and I had to face it. I think that patients should trust their doctors. Actually, I think that doctors in Hong Kong are very good. S£ºHow about Mr Law¡¯s liver cancer? L£º Oh, that happened really quickly. I remember him telling me that he was admitted to the hospital last night. He told me that he had really bad gastric pain and the doctor found that there was a problem with his liver. After getting the report, I showed the report to my doctor and he said that Mr Law should see a specialist immediately. Surgery was carried out right away. It happened pretty quickly. Luckily we consulted a good doctor. We removed the tumor immediately. After the operation, he was pretty obedient, and he knew how to go along with the doctor to get the best treatment. According to him, he has recovered almost 70% S£ºDo you keep a close eye on him? L£ºNo, He¡¯s an adult, he should be able to fend for himself. Actually, he really cares for this own body. He goes for football practice every week. He also plays golf, actually he leads a pretty normal lifestyle. S£ºAs humans, we would have to leave this world one day. L£ºYup! S£ºIf you were given a choice, would you choose to go first or would you rather let your lover go first? L£ºI would rather let my lover leave before me, as I can take good care of him. S£ºI would choose to go first! A little selfish. After your lover has gone, you¡¯d be very lonely! L£ºActually, this is not a choice. Everyone would have to face the same problem. I hope to spend my lifetime with friend. This is life. S£ºSpeaking about friends, who is closer to you, friends within the circle or outside? L£ºI think outside the circle as I knew them longer. S£ºHow many godchildren do you have? L£ºActually, I only take in goddaughters. Jennifer Tse and another one from outside the circle. S£ºYou¡¯re not taking in anymore? The one outside the circle, is a boy or girl? L£ºA girl. Actually I do refer thingy Zong Ming¡¯s son as my godson but we didn¡¯t go through any official ceremony. S£ºHow about the one outside the circle, did you have any ceremony? L£ºYes. S£ºIs it fashionable? L£ºWe consider it to be a important ceremony. I would offer my godchild a rice-bowl. In the past, the ceremony is looked upon seriously. It means that you¡¯re willing to look after the child and treat the child as a part of your family. When I accepted Jennifer as my goddaughter, I did everything that was needed. Lai Gu(Patrick Tse¡¯s wife) looked upon it very seriously. S£ºWhy did you choose to take Jennifer as your goddaughter? L£ºThat is because 4 Gor, Lai Gu and me had quite a lot of fate with each other. When I filmed ¡°over the rainbow¡± with 4 Gor, it was his first series with TVB, he was dating Lai Gu at that time. When we shot ¡°Shell Game¡±, Nicholas Tse was born. At that time, after I finished dressing up and was preparing to sing ¡°Kwai Fan¡± for the drama, he told me, ¡°Oh, I need to go to the hospital!¡± After that, Jennifer was born when we shot Love and Passion. I feel that I had a lot fate with his family. I said, ¡°If you¡¯re having a girl, I want to be her godmother. Lai Gu didn¡¯t want to rush into things and said that if we¡¯re still serious about it when Jennifer¡¯s a year old and that if Jennifer likes me, then we¡¯d carry out the ceremony. Within that year, I always visited Jennifer. I even knitted some clothes for her. I did everything a godmother should do. Therefore, the ceremony was carried out when she celebrated her first birthday. S£ºActually, you have a strong motherly character. L£ºMaybe, actually, I really like kids, but I can¡¯t raise one of my own. I don¡¯t have the patience. If you let me play with the child for awhile, or take the child out for little outings, I can still do it.

He went to take her at the airport... forget. Anyone can confirm this?

Finance:
S: You manage finances well don’t you? L: Not at all! This is the worst! S: Really? L: Because I only know how to buy properties S: Wah! This is incredible! Knows how to buy properties! Did you buy in 97? L: Ai…whoever thought there would be the 97 real estate market S: But if you bought before it then there wouldn’t be anything to worry about L: I don’t have this kind of luck. The properties I sell, I gain nothing. The one who buys my property gains! S: The next time you sell, let me know! L: I don’t have any left! S: Now you have one property left? L: Yes, I live in it and have an office. S: I’ve heard that you like to pay the full price when you buy a property. Is it true? L: Yes! S: Wah! Rich! L: No! It’s because I feel pressurised if I have to pay every month and if I don’t save enough money I don’t have the guts to buy that something. So can you tell how much burden I have, a lot of pressure S: That means you can’t own a business, if you start a business you’ll be borrowing money all the time L: No, I rent out a house to a person I get bullied by them! S: Really? L: Recently, I’ve got a tenant, they owe me a lot of monthly rent, I’ve had to get a lawyer r to sue them, and eventually got it back! S: Because they know you are Wang Ming Chuen L: Maybe! They just left without paying. What can you do? S: In which area? L: 半山区 (half mountain) S: Wah! The rich areas! L: But that person’s record is really bad! I found out tha t this person is a friend’s Mahjong buddies! Owes people a lot of money! S: Do you know them? L: Don’t know! S: Just found out through real estate brokers right L: Yes and everytime make a phone call to them to rush them for payment, always makes excuses like “I’m in China” and the next is such and such. Renting houses to people is so troublesome, I’m not renting anymore! S: How do you invest your money? You’ve got a lot of money L: Regular payments. The stupidest way! S: Really? L: Yes. S: You don’t buy stocks? L: No! Never buy stocks! S: Don’t buy funds? L: No, don’t buy! I think, why should I let people help me invest? S: You don’t invest! L: Then don’t bother. Put it in the bank is safer S: So if you were to retire now it wouldn’t be a problem. All those interests! L: Wouldn’t be a problem. I think it’s all down to your needs. Isn’t it? I’m not a luxurious person. The most beautiful jewellery I’ve worn before. Every year for the Anniversary thousands of dollars placed onto the neck! Then why do you want those items. S: Don’t need to have. Worn before and you’ll be happy L: Yes. As long as you have good health S: Have you ever thought at what age you would retire? L: Actually, I’m thinking about it now because I feel tired a lot of the time. Like filming serials for instance, the younger ones will ask “ah jie, do you need to work yourself so hard?” then I say “it’s my interest”, although its your interest, you have to be able to deal with the work. Sometimes I worry that one day I wont be able to handle it, memory isn’t all that good, already dead! It’s not right to always have to wait for you, I don’t want to work like this. And don’t know if my own performances are good enough. Sometimes, I feel pressure when I accept a role. I think, “ this look again”, I don’t want to act like I’m going to work. So I give myself a lot of pressure. Luckily there was WOIL, met good casts. If the script allows me to do something fresh, then I would happier to work on it. S: We’ve talked for so long now. You’ve talked about TVB like it’s a home, with a lot of people with whom you get on with, is there any friends who you would like to thank, apart from Uncle 6 L: Well, of course I’d like to thank you first! S: Me? I cant accept! L: Really! S: I’ve not really helped you much L: It’s because I remember, not sure if it was last year or what, but my health wasn’t so good, and I hadn’t fully completed my contract, that is, I still had serials to film, and at that time, the company really wanted me to film, but I was not in a good condition, so I spoke to Stephe, I even cried because I felt really unwell, if I was to film, I would really affect my performance S: That time must have been Healing Hands L: Not only that! There was another series S: The other was a fighting series L: Firstly, my knee is injured, can’t film fighting series. Secondly, at that time, my father had just passed away. I wasn’t in a good condition. I Didn’t want to work. So I spoke to Stephen and asked if it was possible to work on the next series. And in the end, Stephen was very understanding, and put the date forward. In the end it was even better! I got to film WOIL!Right? So, I really think this general manager understands the artistes, and I hope he continues to listen to the artistes wishes!I don’t feel that I’m a talented person but I’m like TVB’s motto “Use strength to achieve the best” S: the “all” word is related to you! L: I don’t know if at this day and age this is any use, maybe people will think I’m old-fashioned, I don’t think I’m talented, I’m also not the best, but I treat my work seriously, my profession. Actually, a lot of people’s acting is better than mines, singing there’s a lot of people better than me, but I respect my own work. I think you have to respect yourself, then others will respect you. S: This is really valuable, everyone should learn from it.
S: After you become famous, make a lot of requests, people will think you are stern. Before you are famous and make the same requests, people will think you are troublesome. Ah Jie, no matter, famous before and after will carry on the same working manner which we should all appreciate. The thing we should learn the most is the fact that she never slows herself down, always strives for a breakthrough, no matter if you like or dislike her new breakthrough, this attitude and persistence is really worth learning!
S: OK! At this moment, it’s time to present you with some memorable gifts.A lot of thoughts have been put into it. I hope you will appreciate it and can really use it. This is a head-dress and next to it is my work when I was at a young age, publicly wrote a “love letter” for Wang Ming Chuen L: Wah! Very special, April 23 1987 S: Yes, because at that time, was watching “万水千山廿载情”, finished watching I had an intense feeling, so I wrote it all down because at that time a lot of people said that TVB made such a performance, of course people are going to praise Wang Ming Chuen and not criticize, so I thought if that person is worth praising then till this society today it’s can still use. Everyone just knows how to criticize, why don’t they know how to praise if they did it well. I think whats worth praising is your work attitude, it’s a big inspiration to meand helped me a lot. I hope you like these two gifts! L: Thank you!
